The information related to U.S. Bank Business Leverage® Visa Signature® Card has been collected by Credit Card Insider and has not been reviewed or provided by the issuer or provider of this product.

The U.S. Bank Business Leverage card has a couple of attractive points. The rewards program provides a small degree of personalization, and the spending categories cover a ton of eligible purchases.

There aren’t very many business perks outside of free employee cards and protections to make them more secure. But if you don’t have a travel credit card, this one comes equipped with some travel rewards and a few benefits to make your business trips safer.

Insider Advice: Getting the Most Out of Your Card

  • Monitor your business spending: The Business Leverage earns the most reward points for the top two spend categories. Unless you track your monthly spending, you won’t know which purchases you’ll earn the most rewards for. This could pose a problem if you use multiple credit cards. You don’t want to miss out on potential rewards by using the wrong card for a purchase another would earn more for. If this is your only card, tracking the bonus category spending is less important.
  • Book travel through U.S. Bank’s Rewards Center: If you’re able to book your hotel or rental car through the Reward Center, you’ll earn 5X points per dollar. If each point is worth 1 cent, that’s 5% cash back. It’s hard to beat that rate, so even if you’re able to book just one or the other, you’d earn that much more.
  • Share the wealth: Take advantage of the free employee cards. Rewards are pooled to the central account, and you can set spending limits and monitor each card.
  • Travel with peace of mind: The card comes equipped with a few travel protections, including rental car insurance, Travel Accident Insurance, Lost Luggage Reimbursement, and Travel and Emergency Assistance Services. So you can feel better behind the wheel of your rental, find help while away from home, and relax a bit more knowing you and your luggage are protected against unforeseen circumstances.
  • Book your hotel with the card: In addition to the travel perks listed above, card members also gain access to the Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection. Book your stay with one of the included hotels to get a few extra benefits, including a $25 food/drink credit and a room upgrade when available upon arrival.
  • Consider pairing it with another card: If you pair this card with another that has specific bonus categories, like the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card (Review), you could get an even better return. Use the U.S. Bank card for your top two spend categories, and the other card for its bonus categories. Take a look at the best business reward cards to find the right one.

The Rewards

Earning

Spending Rewards
  • 5X points per dollar on Prepaid Hotels and Rental Cars in the U.S. Bank Rewards Center
  • 1X point per dollar spent on everything else
Introductory Bonus
  • 75,000 bonus points for spending $7,500 in the first 4 months

Redeeming

You can redeem for:

  • Deposit directly into a U.S. Bank business checking, savings or money market account (best option)
  • Statement credits
  • Airline tickets
  • Gift cards
  • Merchandise

Depositing rewards directly into a bank account is your best option. It’s the quickest way to have access to your rewards, and it simply increases the funds in your bank account rather than subtracting from your credit card account balance.

Be aware that for statement credits and deposits, the minimum value for redemption is $50. Your points are worth 1 cent each, so that means you’ll need 50,000 points before you can redeem in either of those ways.

The Benefits

  • Free employee cards
  • Visa Signature Concierge: Call 1-800-953-7392 for non-emergency assistance, including but not limited to travel recommendations, dinner reservations, and locating specific gifts.

  • Purchase Security: Your new purchases are covered against theft or damage for the first 90 days after you buy.
  • Extended Warranty Protection: Extend a manufacturer’s warranty of three years or less for an additional year.
  • Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver: Charge the rental car to your card and decline the rental car provider’s insurance offer to be protected against damage and theft.
  • Travel Accident Insurance: Use your card to pay for travel tickets and you and your family will be protected against accidental death and dismemberment.
  • Travel and Emergency Assistance Services: Get help finding legal, travel, or medical help while away from home.
  • Lost Luggage Reimbursement: If your checked or carry-on luggage and its contents are stolen you could be reimbursed.
  • Roadside Dispatch: Run into car trouble away from home? Call 1-800-847-2869 for help with a tow, to have a tire changed, or for help with other vehicle-related issues.
  • Budgeting tools: U.S. Bank provides free credit card management tools that include alerts to help you avoid interest charges and late fees.
  • Spend Analysis online reporting: Track and monitor your expenses in monthly, quarterly, or annual reports.

The Bottom Line

The U.S. Bank Business Leverage® Visa Signature® Card is neither good nor bad, but sits right in the middle. It doesn’t have any mind-boggling features, but could still be relatively rewarding.

Its earning potential is pretty good, considering the welcome bonus and the rewards pooling should you choose to share the card with your employees. The latter is a free feature with plenty of security protections and customization options, so there really isn’t much reason not to.

It even has a few travel features thrown into the mix. Not only are there some useful travel protections attached, but you’ll also earn 5X points for eligible prepaid hotels and rental cars, and there are no fees for purchases outside the country.

It’s a solid starter business card, and once your business grows or your needs change, you can move on to a higher-tiered card. Take a look at our picks for the best business credit cards.

How Do I Apply for the U.S. Bank Business Leverage Card?

Follow the link below to be directed to the credit card issuer’s website. You can fill out an application securely, and U.S. Bank will get back to you instantly in most cases.

What Credit Scores Do I Need to Qualify for the U.S. Bank Business Leverage Card?

It’s recommended for you to have good credit before applying.

To qualify for good credit your FICO scores need to be at least 670, or your VantageScores need to be 700.

But keep in mind credit card issuers consider other factors too. Issuers look at things like income and rent/mortgage payments when deciding your creditworthiness. The additional information could lead to your approval despite having lower scores than what’s recommended. However, that means even if your scores are high enough, you could still be denied.

Why We Picked It

The Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card (Review) is a popular pick due to its lucrative redemption and point transfer options.

If you’re looking for a card to enhance your business trips, look no further. The Ink Business Preferred offers rewards for all travel, plus a 25% redemption bonus when you redeem for travel through Chase Ultimate Rewards. It also provides a potentially lucrative point transfer option to Chase’s travel partners. Points transfer at a 1:1 rate, and depending on the deal, you could increase the value of your points to 2 cents or more.

The card’s benefits are pretty comparable to what the U.S. Bank credit card offers. But if you’re looking for a travel card, this one is better suited to the job than the U.S. Bank Business Leverage card.

Why We Picked It

The Capital One Spark Cash Plus provides 2% cash back for every purchase with a selection of business perks to take advantage of.

Pretty straightforward. Use it for everything and rake in the rewards. It would make a good alternative to the U.S. Bank card, as you’d earn that rate for every purchase, but it’s designed for bigger businesses and has a higher annual fee.

The Spark Cash Plus offers similar business spending tools as the U.S. Bank card, only with fewer travel protections.

Why We Picked It

The Business Platinum Card® from American Express (Review) is one of the most well-known names on the market. It offers one of the best benefit packages around.

Because of that, and its respectable reward potential, it carries a pretty steep annual fee. However, that expansive set of benefits not only includes several annual credits but also access to the largest selection of airport lounges available with any credit card. The other perks include an application fee credit for Global Entry/TSA PreCheck and a nice selection of travel protections.

But be sure your business has you traveling enough to get the most out of these features, otherwise the fee won’t be worth it.

Why We Picked It

If you prefer to fly American Airlines for your business trips, the CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Mastercard® (Review) would make your trips less expensive and more comfortable.

It’s a pretty rewarding card, earning a cash back equivalent of 7%–14%, after you factor in the bonus miles from the AA membership. So that makes it far more lucrative than the U.S. Bank card, but only when purchasing AA airfare.

The benefits include an in-flight discount, priority boarding, and your first checked bag free of charge, among others. If you don’t feel like choosing between the two, you could combine it with the U.S. Bank card.
