The Barclaycard® Rewards MasterCard® is a fairly simple rewards credit card for people with fair credit, offering points for the kinds of purchases most people make pretty frequently.

You’ll get 2 points per dollar on gas and groceries, and 1 point per dollar on everything else. There’s no annual fee, but watch out for the high APR’s.

The Bottom Line: 4 out of 5 Stars

If you only have fair credit but still want a decent rewards card with no annual fee, the Barclaycard Rewards MasterCard may be one of your best options.

You’ll get points for some very common purchases, and the monthly credit reporting will help you build up your credit. As long as you pay your balance in full and don’t revolve a balance from month to month, you won’t need to worry about the extreme interest rates.

This is a pretty basic card, but in time you’ll be able to qualify for some of the better reward credit cards and get some better cash back deals and benefits.

We gave this card 4 out of 5 Stars because it’s a good option for people without great credit, providing a way to build up credit at no annual fee. You’ll find a similar 2X point category on a lot of reward cards, but they don’t usually include utilities like this one. That gives this card an interesting angle that we don’t usually see. There aren’t many extra benefits to go along with it, however, so you won’t be able to get services like extended warranties or travel insurance like you can with many other cards.
