Our Rating: 5 Out of 5 Stars

We give the Brex Daily Card 5 out of 5 Stars because it’s truly a one-of-a-kind business card offer that combines strong rewards, valuable benefits, and convenient tools into a cutting-edge package.

Plus, it’s available without a personal guarantee. In spite of the stringent requirements your business does have to meet, and the card’s unavailability to sole proprietors, this is still quite out of the ordinary, and remains one of the key factors that elevate this corporate credit card above and beyond the competition.

Why We Like It

  • Your choice of reward program, out of three valuable industry-specific rewards programs
  • Benefits include several thousand dollars in statement credits and discounts for business tools and services
  • Proprietary expense management systems, including receipt-matching, intelligent reconciliation, and more
  • Available with no personal guarantee and no personal credit check
  • Credit limit is 80% of your Brex Cash balance, so it can get quite high
  • Card balance is paid daily from your Brex Daily account balance
  • No annual fee or foreign transaction fee

Why It Could Be Better

  • Must have a Brex Cash account, which is only available to businesses that meet relatively strict criteria, shown below
  • Not available to many small businesses and all sole proprietors (see cards that are good for any business here)
  • Misses some major business-related spending categories, such as telecom services and shipping
  • Limited point transfer options

Brex provides a unique set of business tools, designed for corporations that want to go above and beyond the standard business card.

The Brex Daily Card is a newly revamped business charge card, running on the Mastercard network. You’ll need a Brex Cash account to get one, which requires having a corporation that meets some specific criteria. As a corporate card, it doesn’t require a personal guarantee.

Unlike most cards, the Brex Daily is automatically paid daily from your Brex Cash account — no billing due dates, and no interest or late fees to worry about. This can provide some peace of mind, although it doesn’t give you any extra time to pay like other cards (check out the Brex 30 Card (Review) if that’s what you need).

The Brex Daily offers a surprisingly diverse set of rewards, allowing you to pick from three industry-specific programs, plus thousands of dollars in statement credits and discounts.

Brex uses cutting-edge technology, from merchant data cleanup to photographic receipt capture, to help simplify the expense management process.

The only real catch is that your business has to meet some fairly strict standards in order to qualify for the card. Consumers and sole proprietors will not qualify. But that’s life when it comes to corporate cards, isn’t it?

Insider Advice: Getting the Most Out of Your Card

  • Pair it with Brex Cash: The Brex Daily card has to be paired with a Brex Cash account. Your card balance will be paid daily from your Brex Cash balance, so there’s no interest to worry about and you’ll never get behind on payments.
  • Pick Tech Rewards, Life Science Rewards, or Remote Workforce Rewards: You can choose from one of three comprehensive rewards programs to fit your typical business expenses. If you’re tech-focused, you can earn on software and eligible Apple products; life sciences companies can earn on conference tickets and lab supplies; and companies with remote workers can earn on collaboration tools, food delivery, and software.
  • Pay for ads: Some modern businesses spend big in the ad realm, and all three of the Brex card’s rewards programs earn 1.5X points per dollar on those purchases.
  • Take advantage of the card benefits: In addition to its more traditional point-based signup bonus, Brex provides new cardholders with thousands of dollars in statement credits and discounts for services that many up-and-coming businesses will likely find useful.
  • Redeem points to reduce your account balance: The Brex card earns points relatively quickly if you play your cards right, and the company allows statement credit point redemptions at a rate of 1 cent per point. This is an easy way to cut down your card balance a bit.
  • Redeem points and book through Brex Travel: Thanks to negotiated rates, redeeming points or booking trips through Brex Travel may allow you to score an exceptional deal on your next business excursion. Brex Travel gives you access to a team of corporate travel agents, and you’ll even earn frequent flyer miles on your bookings if you include your airline member ID; that isn’t true for most credit card travel portals.
  • Transfer your points when it makes sense: Brex allows 1:1 point transfers to select airline loyalty programs, which may allow you to boost your return on spend beyond the 1-cent-per-point value that Brex offers.

Redeeming

The Brex card offers a variety of redemption options that will likely seem familiar if you’ve ever used a travel credit card.

You have three basic point redemption options:

  • Statement credits
  • Gift cards
  • Travel (via Brex Travel)

Redemption rates with the above methods are usually 1 cent per point, which is good for a travel card. Travel redemptions through Brex Travel are still only 1 cent per point, but thanks to negotiated rates you could have the opportunity to secure a fairly solid return on spend if you play your cards right.

The Brex website, for example, explains that cardholders get rates typically only available to enterprise companies, for average savings of 30%. Some deals may be even better, though — Brex mentions discounts as steep as 60%.

You can also transfer your points at a 1:1 ratio to a variety of airline mile programs, covering several airline alliances. This can be a good strategy because you can look for great mile redemptions to bump up the value of your points.

As of publication, Brex’s airline partners are:

Airline Partners
Aeromexico Club Premier Air France/KLM Flying Blue Asia Miles
Avianca LifeMiles Emirates Skywards JetBlue TrueBlue
Qantas Frequent Flyer Program Singapore KrisFlyer

The Benefits

Few business cards provide this much value in the way of statement credits, and that’s definitely one way Brex overtakes its competitors. Plus, it certainly helps that a lot of the services available through these benefits are precisely tailored to benefit blossoming corporations. Learn more about Brex benefits here.

  • Statement credits: $5,000 for Amazon Web Services, $150 for Google Ads, $500 for Twilio, $1,560 for SendGrind, $5,232 for ZenDesk, and 15% off WeWork, among others
  • Brex Travel: This portal allows you to book corporate travel, reportedly offering potential savings ranging from 30%–60%. Brex Travel also allows cardholders to save unique travel profiles with frequent flyer information and access a team of experienced corporate travel agents. You can earn frequent flyer miles when booking by including your airline member ID.
  • Proprietary expense management tech: Perks like transaction data cleanup and receipt capture help make it easier to record and organize expenses.
  • Seamless integration with modern accounting tools: Connect your Brex account with software like Quickbooks, Expensify, and Xero.
  • Virtual cards: Before you get your physical card, you’ll receive immediate access to virtual versions of your Brex card, so you can make purchases online and by phone ASAP.
  • U.S.-based support: Phone, email, and chat options offer versatile, convenient support when you need it most.
  • Fraud monitoring: Round-the-clock fraud monitoring featuring a blend of machine intelligence and human analysis helps safeguard your personal information.

Remote Collaboration Benefits

On top of the card’s typical benefits, Brex is offering several additional perks to help serve remote workforces, including:

  • 20% off an annual Zoom subscription
  • 25% off 12 months of any eligible Slack plan
  • 50% off an annual Dropbox subscription
  • 3 months of discounts on DoorDash
  • $100,000 in incremental AWS (Amazon Web Services) credit
  • 25% off an annual Monday.com subscription

The Terms & Fees

Annual Fee Employee Card Fee Foreign Transaction Fee
$0 First 4 for free; $5 per month after that None

The Brex Daily card is paid every day from your Brex Cash account. So you don’t have to think about interest rates, late fees, returned payment fees, or anything else like that.

Although the card has no annual fee, you will have to pay for employee cards. Your first five copies of the card are free, while every copy after that costs $5 per month.

The Bottom Line

In the current credit landscape, Brex is a fairly atypical card issuer, and the fact that the company provides enticing corporate charge cards without the need for a personal guarantee is sure to help the Brex brand remain in the spotlight for some time.

And why shouldn’t it? The Brex Daily Card provides a competitive rewards program with useful categories. Plus, the opportunity to redeem for both statement credits and travel, or to transfer your points to a partner loyalty program, affords quite a bit of wiggle room to maximize the card’s value.

There’s also no annual fee, so you’re making out like a bandit if you can meet the approval requirements and take advantage of all the perks.

Which brings us to the one catch: The Brex Corporate Card may be designed for startups, but it’s not meant for small businesses or solo entrepreneurs. Sole proprietors will be denied outright.

If you’re looking for a business card that’ll help your one-man show thrive, the Brex card isn’t it (though there are plenty of other business credit card options).

Corporations, however, may want to take heed of this distinctive card offer, which could become even more impressive as the young issuer evolves.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Brex Daily Card requirements?

To get the Brex Daily Card, you must open a Brex Cash account. And that means you must be a corporation or other non-individual liability company (like a C-Corp or LLC), and have an employer identification number (EIN).

You can’t qualify as a sole proprietor, an unregistered business, or a regular consumer.

See all of the Brex Daily Card’s requirements here.

Need a more run-of-the-mill business card, the kind anyone can apply for? See a selection of business credit cards for businesses big and small, including sole proprietors and contractors.

Does the Brex Daily Card require a personal guarantee?

No, the Brex Daily is one of the rare cards that don’t require a personal guarantee.

A personal guarantee means that you (the cardholder) are personally responsible to pay the card balance. This is how most cards work, including most business credit cards.

With Brex, your corporation is on the hook to pay the balance — not the specific person who happens to open the account.

What’s the Brex Daily Card’s credit limit?

Your Brex Daily Card credit limit will be 80% of your Brex Cash account balance.

Why We Picked It

Corporate cards are a rare breed, and your options are limited. But American Express provides a set of corporate credit cards that cover a range of business needs. They’re mostly focused on hotel and airline perks, along with travel insurance, although some are designed to help manage diverse business spending or facilitate meetings and events.

The American Express® Corporate Platinum Card (Review) leads the pack in terms of travel perks, mirroring the consumer version of the card (The Platinum Card® from American Express (Review)) in many respects. It has the same excellent airport lounge access, with the addition of a handy CLEAR membership.

Amex corporate cards are designed for corporations with annual gross revenues over $4 million. Like the Brex Daily they’re charge cards, although they only need to be paid monthly instead of daily.
