Speak to Customer Service

If you’ve been repeatedly denied for credit cards, the Fingerhut Advantage Credit Account can be a good way to begin building a credit history.

After being approved you’ll be given a specific credit limit, based on your creditworthiness, and can make purchases up to that limit. You can pay off those purchases over time, but any balance you carry from month to month will accrue interest at the rate shown below. So we recommend paying off your full statement balance each billing period, to avoid interest and keep your credit utilization low.

Insider tip

Having trouble qualifying for credit cards? Check out our top picks for the Best Credit Cards for Limited or No Credit. We generally recommend trying these cards before applying for a Fingerhut account.

This card can only be used to make purchases from Fingerhut, either online from, from a physical Fingerhut catalog, or by phone. You may also receive offers from select Fingerhut partners, which can be paid for using this account as well.

You may be required to make a one-time down payment when you place your first order with the Advantage Credit Account. Later purchases won’t require a down payment as long as your account remains in good standing.

There are no annual fees or membership fees. This credit account is issued by WebBank. See complete WebBank/Fingerhut Advantage Credit Account Terms and Conditions here.

The Fingerhut Advantage Credit Account reports activity to all three of the major consumer credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. So, by using it responsibly and always paying on time, you’ll add a positive account to your credit reports, which will help improve your credit.

Fingerhut is known for having higher-than-average prices, and its customer support seems lacking. But if you’ve been unable to qualify for other credit cards, the Advantage Credit Account provides another opportunity to build credit with a revolving account (all credit cards are revolving accounts). You’ll need to pay for it in terms of the products you buy, which could be pricey in some cases, but the end result of establishing a credit history could be well worth the cost.

Fingerhut’s terms state that you must send Fingerhut a written letter to cancel your account. However, we recommend giving them a call at 1-800-208-2500 to see if they can cancel your account over the phone. If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to send a letter to:

Fingerhut Credit Account Services
P.O. Box 0260
St Cloud, MN 56395-0260

You must cut your card in half and send it in along with the cancellation request.

If you apply for the Fingerhut Advantage Credit Account and don’t qualify, you’ll automatically be considered for the Fingerhut FreshStart® Credit Account. This is an installment loan account, rather than revolving, and it will require a down payment. It can be used to make purchases from Fingerhut much like the revolving Advantage Credit Account.

After following the full payment schedule of the FreshStart account, making on-time payments each month, you’ll be rewarded with a revolving Fingerhut Advantage Credit Account. You must follow the terms of the installment account to the letter; if you make a late or returned payment, you will not be eligible for the revolving account.
