The Target REDcard™ Debit Card offers 5% savings at Target and Target.com along with a few valuable benefits.

This is a debit card, not a credit card. You must connect a personal checking account, and when you make purchases the money will be drawn directly from your account.

Cardholders will get 5% off eligible Target purchases when paying with the card. This discount is applied immediately at the time of purchase, rather than being provided as cash back rewards.

REDcard users also get free two-day shipping on eligible items at Target.com, with free standard shipping for any items that don’t qualify for two-day shipping. There will be opportunities for exclusive savings and early access offers, and purchases will get 30 extra days for returns.

Target also offers the Target REDcard™ Credit Card (Review), which lets you carry a balance over time. See our review and comparison of both of these cards in our Review of the Target REDcard Credit Card and Target REDcard Debit Card.

Where can I use my Target REDcard™ Debit Card?

The Target REDcard Debit Card can only be used at Target and Target.com.

The card can be used at restaurants and services within Target stores as well, but these purchases will usually not qualify for the 5% discount. The exception is Starbucks cafes in Target stores, which do qualify for the discount. See our review for a full description of purchases that do not qualify.

Very bad experience

I’ll be short, I called to update my bank account and ended closing my Red Card account after being charges $70 fees because they were not able to contact me to address an issue with the bank, even having my phone number. Very bad attitude of the customer service made me feel relief by closing the account. From now I also will avoid going to Target.

charged for cancelled items

This card will debit your bank account even if you never pick up the items you ordered, cancel the order or even if the wrong items are presented at pick up and you refuse them. Takes days to get your money refunded. I closed the card because of this practice and they STILL debited my bank account for a cancelled order, a day AFTER I closed the card. Total scam card and company. Boycott Target.

JUST DISAPPOINTING

I had the debit card Red Card Option and being that I LOVE Target I thought this was ax excellent deal but after using for a few months I tried many times to call about a complaint of a charge unknown. So not only was I charged for whatever it was I was also charged for not being able to cover the cost. Not to mention, the Customer Service line is lousy. Folks this was in 2012, and I have come back here to see if things have changed and they unfortunately have not. Target this is good idea but you gotta come correct to these RedCards.

Disappointed with debit card policy

First let me say that I love Target but am very disappointed in my recent experience. I ordered an item online and picked up at the store. While there I wanted to purchase wrapping paper for this item. At the register, both mine and my husband’s debit red card was declined. Knowing that we had more than enough money in our account to cover the $5 charge we tried again with the same result. Later, my husband called Red Card services and was told that because one transaction did not have time to clear the bank, no other transactions can be made with the Red Card until it was cleared. The item I ordered online and picked up at the store was only $15! Seriously? So, if I had more items to purchase that day, because I can’t use the Red Card I am also losing 5% discount in addition to being embarrassed at the register that my card was declined. I have been a good customer at Target and feel this is ridiculous.
