The Deserve Classic credit card is designed to help you build or rebuild your credit, but it does not require a security deposit. It has a small annual fee, and offers no rewards for purchases and only basic shopping and travel protections.

Instead of rewards or benefits, this card is designed simply for improving credit. After a period of positive activity, you may be able to upgrade to the Deserve Pro Mastercard (Review) cash back card. There’s also a card created for students, the Deserve Edu Mastercard (Review).

When applying for the Deserve credit cards, they will consider not only your credit history but also education, current financial health, future employability, and earnings potential. This gives people with poor credit or thin credit files a better chance of approval.

Take note that Deserve will need to connect to your bank account to verify your balance. If you have privacy or security concerns this might worry you, but it seems logical because Deserve bases its decision on more than just an applicant’s credit history.

Don't even Think About Deserve....

This is the ONLY credit card company that WILL ask for your bank login info. Very hard to reach, they must have a bank login after getting your SSN, DOB, Income, Credit File etc. They don't tell next step and want just too much personal data. Not worth wasting your time with Deserve.... they are so un-deserving. Poor company, poorer customer service & worst all around user experience.I know a friend who has FICO credit score of 850 (max allowed) and he was denied, just because they needed his full bank login details including security questions. Go Figure...

Took action against possible fraud

I applied for this card about 2 months ago. They ask all types of financial questions & ask you to submit your identification- even log into your bank account. Then they denied me, stating that they couldn't verify my identity. When i questioned how that could be & offered to submit evidence of my credit reports, they offered me an excuse that they were a "new company trying things out". I immediately contacted the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau- who turned it over to the FDIC. Be careful with this company!!!

Awful customer service

Called them to get myself a replacement credit card since I lost the old one, the customer service is awful. They never pick up my phone and it always tells you to leave a message for them!!!! (I call them in the early morning and I always get we are busy please leave a message). If it takes so much efforts to replace my card, I would just simply close my account with Deserve!!

Fraudulant Card

You would really have to hate your friend to refer this card to your friend to get $30 bucks. This card will make a decision about your ability to pay when they haven't asked all the questions. This is a terrible card to apply for and I can't imagine anyone referring someone to it. They declined me based on my documents but went ahead and hit my credit when they already made the decision before hand. If your trying to fix your credit, you don't want to do it with this card. They are terrible people!

Security Issues

While going through the process of applying for this card, they ask you if you have any cash on hand. Say yes, then they ask for the name of your bank. Once you click on the name of your bank, you are required to input your user name, password, and answer any security questions that have been set. This screen can not be bypassed. After completing the application, I changed the password to my bank account. A few hours later, I receive an email advising me that I have been blocked out of my account because I had too many password attempts. ANYTHING can happen if someone at a call center has the username, password, and answers to the security questions that are linked to your bank account!
