This card is designed to help you build credit, so when you apply, instead of just checking your credit history, Deserve will also consider your financial health, potential employability, and level of education to increase your chance of approval. You don’t need a credit history or a security deposit to apply, but Deserve will need to connect to your bank so it can verify your balance.

The Deserve Classic credit card is designed to help you build or rebuild your credit, but it does not require a security deposit like a secured card. It has no annual fee, offers no rewards for purchases, and has some basic shopping and travel protections.

Instead of rewards or benefits, this card is designed simply for improving credit. After a period of positive activity, you may be able to upgrade to the Deserve Pro Mastercard (Review) cash back card. There’s also a card created for students, the Deserve Edu Mastercard (Review).

When applying for the Deserve credit cards, they will consider not only your credit history but also education, current financial health, future employability, and earnings potential. This gives people with poor credit or thin credit files a better chance of approval.

Take note that Deserve will need to connect to your bank account to verify your balance. If you have privacy or security concerns this might worry you, but it seems logical because Deserve bases its decision on more than just an applicant’s credit history.
