The Starbucks Rewards Visa Card is issued by Chase and may sound great, but it’s probably a bit disappointing for all but the most die-hard java heads.
You’ll earn up to 3X Stars per $1 spent at Starbucks, but it takes a bit more work than you might expect:
And you’ll also get 1X Star per two dollars spent at Grocery stores, on Local transit/commuting, and Internet, cable, and phone services, plus 1X Star for every four dollars spent outside of Starbucks.
This rewards program could be a bit confusing, so take note: You’ll get 1X Star when you use the Starbucks Rewards Visa Card to digitally load your Starbucks member Card in the Starbucks mobile app. Then you’ll get an additional 2X Stars at Starbucks stores when you pay with your member Starbucks Card.
So, to get 3X Stars for Starbucks purchases, you need to use the Starbucks credit card to digitally load your Starbucks member Card, and then pay with your member Card.
This rewards credit card offers two introductory bonuses to claim, including a signup bonus:
You’ll get 8 free Barista Picks per year, at a rate of about one every six weeks. You’ll also get automatic Starbucks Gold status, which comes with a variety of perks including monthly double star days, free in-store refills, and the ability to redeem 125 Stars for a Starbucks reward, like food and beverage items.
It’s difficult to estimate a cash back equivalent for this card, because the value you get per Star will depend on what you redeem them for. Redeem them for the most expensive food and drink items possible to get the most out of this card.
This card has a $49 annual fee, so we don’t recommend getting it unless you’re a true caffeine addict and find yourself at Starbucks practically every time you leave the house.
