The Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card provides an excellent reward of 10X miles per dollar at Hotels.com/venture through January 2020, with 1.25X miles for every other purchase.
Capital One designed this card for people with excellent credit, but if your scores fall in the “good” range you probably have a decent chance of being approved, depending on other factors that affect your creditworthiness.
Every mile you earn will be worth 1 cent when redeemed for travel expenses, so you’ll have a cash back equivalent of 10% for purchases from Hotels.com. Other purchases will only have a 1.25% cash back equivalent, so you’ll typically want to use a different card for non-hotel spending.
You can also transfer miles to a variety of airline loyalty programs, where you may be able to find a better value than 1 cent each:
|Airline Partner||Transfer Rate|
|Aeromexico Club Premier||2:1.5|
|Air Canada Aeroplan
|Air France KLM Flying Blue
|Cathay Pacific Asia Miles
|EVA Infinity MileageLands
|Hainan Fortune Wings Club
|Qantas Frequent Flyer
|Qatar Privilege Club||2:1.5|
This card is available at either the Visa Platinum or Visa Signature level, depending on your credit limit when approved. Visa Platinum cards have basic shopping and travel protections, while Visa Signature cards come with more protections and some value-adding perks.
