Uber Visa Card

The Uber Visa Card is one of the newest offerings by Barclays, providing 4% cash back on dining (including UberEATS), 3% back on airfare and at hotels, and 2% back on online purchases (including Uber itself).

It comes with some rewarding benefits, like a $50 annual credit for streaming services if you spend $5,000 per year, and up to $600 in mobile phone insurance if you pay your phone bill with the card.

Overall it’s a very rewarding card given that it has no annual fee. The 4% back category is a better reward for dining than most cards offer, the 3% category includes not just airfare and hotels but also travel agencies like Airbnb, and the 2% category covers a very wide variety of purchases, including most online subscription services (excluding utilities and similar services).

You’ll be able to redeem your rewards for Uber credits through the Uber app, statement credits, or gift cards.

There’s no foreign transaction fee on this card, so it’s a good choice to bring with you when traveling outside the country unlike most cards, which charge a 3% fee.

You don’t need to be an Uber driver to apply for this card. But if you are an Uber driver, check out the Uber Visa Debit Card, which provides cash back at a variety of different merchants (including gas stations).

Apply for the Uber Visa by following these instructions, or hitting the Apply Now button on the right. You’ll be taken to Barclays’ webpage, which includes instructions on how to apply.

The current application instructions are:

  1. Open the Uber App (available for iPhone and Android)
  2. Tap MENU in the upper left
  3. Tap PAYMENT
  4. Tap VIEW ALL OFFERS in the Payment Offers section
  5. Tap DETAILS under Apply for the Uber Visa Card

We’ve heard from a reader that these application instructions won’t work. You may need to call Barclays at 1-866-928-8598 to apply for the Uber Visa.

Where can I use my Uber Visa Card?

You can use this card anywhere Visa is accepted.

If you apply for this card through the Uber app and are approved, you’ll be able to use it immediately through the app for Uber purchases without needing to wait for the physical card to be mailed to you.

Use it all the time overseas. Have not had ANY of the problems others discussed here. Good deal.

Worst Customer Service Ever!

Good cashback benefits, but not worth the horrible, horrible customer service and security team. I've never had a worse experience with a credit card company in my life. They will lie to you repeatedly, put you on hold for hours, say you'll get a refund from a fraudulent charge multiple times, and say you'll receive a callback, only to fall short on every claim. They do not protect their customers in the least. I have had several cards through both Chase and American Express for decades without a single issue, and already have more complaints about my experience with Barclays than I can count - after only 3 months! Please avoid Barclays at all costs.

Worst customer service ever

Good cash back rate for a no fee card. However, Barclay’s customer service is the worst I’ve ever dealt with among various credit card issuers. The advertised $50 credit on digital subscription after spending $5,000 purchase is a joke. I had to call three times, put on hold for more than an hour, speak to more than three representatives to get the credit. They first explain I didn’t reach the $5,000 purchase requirement because the purchase has to be all online digital subscription spend (seriously!?). Then they gave me an exemption for the credit at the end, probably got tired of me. This should have been automatically credited in the first place!

Ridiculous security

Decent benefits for the card with no annual fee. However, their security system is ridiculous. My card gets blocked after any significantly large transaction (over $300). I have to call customer services to unblock the card. Then it happens again and again. Customer service says they can't do anything about it. This really kills all the benefits of the card.

Great card

Easy to activate, easy to use and very easy to rack up rewards cash. Even get FICO monitoring.
