The Hilton Honors American Express Ascend Card is meant for people who spend a lot of time staying at properties within the Hilton Portfolio.

It’s quite rewarding, with 12X and 6X bonus categories to earn points in. A large signup offer of 125,000 bonus points is available for spending $2,000 in the first 3 months. Cardholders get complimentary Hilton Honors Gold status, which comes with a variety of nice benefits.

The most important is the 18X Base Points per dollar you’ll earn at eligible Hilton properties. That will be a total of 30X points per dollar at Hilton. There’s also a fast track to Diamond status by spending $40,000 per year with the card, which has even better benefits.

The extra perks and benefits can be quite valuable, and the more you travel the more useful this card will be for you. There is an annual fee of $95, but it’s pretty reasonable for all the value you could get.

  • Fast Track to Hilton Honors Diamond Status

    You’ll be awarded Diamond status if your purchases for a given year reach $40,000. Diamond status comes with even better benefits, free night stays, complimentary services, and more.

  • Annual Weekend Night Reward

    Get a free weekend night after spending $15,000 on purchases in any calendar year. Redeemable for one weekend standard accommodation, double occupancy. Weekend nights refer to Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.

  • Priority Pass Select Access

    Provides access to over 1,200 Priority Pass airport lounges around the world, including ten free lounge visits per year. Additional passes are $32 per person. Authorized users don’t receive a membership, but they can use the 10 free visits.

  • Pay It Plan It

    You can choose between two options to pay down your balance. The Pay It option lets you pay small purchase amounts, while the Plan It plan lets you split up large purchases, for a fixed monthly fee.

  • Lowest Hotel Rates Guarantee

    If you book an eligible room on Amex Travel and then find the same offer being advertised for a lesser price, you can be refunded for the difference.

  • Entertainment Access

    Discounts to card member-only events, concerts, sporting events, and shows.

  • Complimentary ShopRunner Membership

    Free membership to ShopRunner, which provides free two-day shipping from many retailers. Cardholders must enroll in this benefit.

  • Dispute Resolution

    Get help with fraudulent transactions if your account becomes compromised.

  • $0 Fraud Liability Guarantee

    Cardholders are not held responsible for unauthorized purchases with the card.

  • Extended Warranty

    For warranties of 5 years or less, you can get up to one extra year added to the original manufacturer’s warranty.

  • Return Protection

    If the merchant won’t take back an eligible item that you purchased on your card within 90 days from the date of purchase, American Express may refund the purchase price, minus shipping and handling, for up to $300 per item, up to $1,000 per year for each account.

  • Purchase Protection

    Items purchased with your card are protected against accidental damage and theft within 90 days of the purchase.

  • Global Assist® Hotline

    When you travel 100 miles or more from home you can get help with travel accidents such as a lost passport, the need for a lawyer, sudden illness, and more. You must pay for all third-party service costs.

  • Roadside Assistance Hotline

    Assistance with services such as towing, changing a flat, or boosting a battery in case of emergency. You pay for all third-party service costs.

  • Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance

    Stolen or damaged vehicles are covered if you use your card to pay and reserve the rental, and you decline the collision damage waiver. Not all rentals or vehicles are covered. Provides secondary coverage only, not liability coverage.

  • Travel Accident Insurance

    Added financial security against death and dismemberment when traveling by Common Carrier. Includes traveling by plane, train, ship, or bus.

  • Baggage Insurance Plan

    When you buy a Common Carrier ticket on your card, eligible lost, damaged, or stolen bags are covered up to $1,250 for carry-on baggage and up to $500 for checked baggage.
