American Express® Business Gold Card

For People with

The American Express Business Gold Card has replaced the old Business Gold Rewards Card, with a new rewards program and valuable first-year offers.

The Business Gold Card provides 4X Membership Rewards points in the two categories your business spends the most in, out of six possible categories:

  • Airfare purchased directly from airlines
  • U.S. advertising purchases: online, TV, radio
  • U.S. providers of computer hardware, software, and cloud solutions
  • U.S. gas stations
  • U.S. restaurants
  • U.S. shipping

Each month American Express will calculate the two categories that your business spent the most in, and those purchases will retroactively earn 4X points. The 4X rate is available for the first $150,000 in combined purchases per year.

2X Membership Rewards points are awarded for eligible purchases from Amex Travel, with 1X Membership Rewards point for every other purchase. You’ll also get 35,000 Membership Rewards points for spending $5,000 in the first 3 months.

There are two valuable perks that are only available in the first year of card membership: one free year of ZipRecruiter Standard, and one free year of G Suite Basic for three users.

You’ll receive statement credits for purchases of ZipRecruiter and G Suite memberships, whether you purchase the Standard and Basic plans or other plans. Up to $2,988 in statement credits will be provided for a ZipRecruiter membership in your first year, and up to $204 for G Suite.

This is enough for one year of ZipRecruiter Standard and one year of G Suite Basic, although you’ll still get statement credits if you purchase other membership levels.

When using points to book airfare you’ll get a 25% Airline Bonus, in the form of 25% of your points back. You can also transfer your points to a variety of airline and hotel loyalty programs.

This is a charge card, which means you need to pay off the balance in full each month. However, you’ll also have the Pay Over Time option, which lets you pay over time for purchases of $100 or more at a given interest rate. We don’t recommend doing so because you’ll be charged interest, and it would be cheaper to pay your statement balance in full every month.

The Business Gold Card costs $295 per year.
