Our Selection Criteria

There aren’t a whole lot of cash back business cards, but our selection includes some great picks that can make a dent (albeit a small one) in your net expenses. We look for cards with:

  • High cash back rates: Why earn 1% when you can earn 3% or 5%?
  • Business management services: The best business cards come with business-specific tools to simplify your finances, making it easier to categorize and analyze your annual spending.
  • Perks: Cash back business cards don’t usually come with the most luxurious perks, like some other business reward cards might; but you can still access useful benefits like the Visa Signature Concierge and Amex Offers.
  • 0% intro APR offers: This one isn’t a big deal, because 0% APR offers on business cards are fairly rare; but if you need some extra time to pay, there are a few cards that can help.
  • A reasonable annual fee: Annual fees don’t scare us away, and they shouldn’t scare you either (especially for businesses with high annual expenses); just make sure the annual fee is worth it, either from the rewards, benefits, or payment terms (or all three).

Want to see a wider selection of excellent business cards, including some that offer points and travel perks instead of cash back? See the Best Business Credit Cards.

Is a Cash Back Business Card Right for You?

Do you want an easy way to separate business from personal expenses? Want to earn a little bit back every time your business spends money? How about expense management services — want a hand organizing and preparing for tax season?

If you find yourself nodding along to any of those questions, a cash back business card might be missing from your life. Just like regular consumer/personal credit cards, business credit cards offer rewards, benefits, and handy tools to give you a birds-eye view of your spending. Many provide insights to help make your business more efficient, like analyzing spending patterns to show when and where employees make purchases.

Business cash back cards work like personal cash back cards. They’re simple: spend money, earn cash back, redeem cash back (usually for statement credits). Rinse and repeat all year long, and you’ll probably accrue a healthy reward balance.

There are also business credit cards that earn points instead of cash back, and these can be just as valuable. See the best business credit cards of all kinds right here.

If you don’t like what you see here, keep in mind that you can use personal cards for your business if you so choose — you just won’t get the business-specific features. This could be a good plan if you’re not spending in typical business categories, or if you’ve got your eye on certain features. You’ll find some great personal cards here that could be the right fit for your company:

If your credit scores need some work, that’s alright — there’s a cash back business card for you, too. And it’s actually fairly rewarding, considering it’s a secured card.

The Wells Fargo® Business Secured Credit Card lets you choose either cash back or points. Cash back may be best for companies that want to keep it simple, while points may work better for companies that spend more than $1,000 each month. Plug in your numbers, and see which plan provides more value.

Like most other secured cards, you’ll need to put down a security deposit when you’re approved, and your credit line will be equal to your deposit — from $500 to a max of $25,000. This could be an issue for businesses without a lot of cash on hand, or that need a bigger limit, but this is one of the highest upper limits you’ll find on a secured card for bad credit.

Spending Rewards: Choose One Program
  • Cash Back:
    • 1.5% cash back on all purchases
  • Rewards Points:
    • 1X point per dollar on all purchases

What’s the Best Cash Back Business Card for Travel?

Cash back business cards don’t tend to be the best for travel, but you do have some viable options:

If you want a more robust business travel card, with high point multipliers for travel and valuable perks, see the Best Business Credit Cards.

How Do Cash Back Business Cards Work?

Cash back business cards work pretty much like any other cash back credit card. The process is simple:

  1. Make purchases with the card.
  2. Earn cash back according to the terms (1.5% back on everything, 3% back on gas, etc.).
  3. Redeem your cash back for statement credits or by other means, like for travel or merchandise.

Just like any other credit card, you have to keep an eye on your statements, and to get the most out of your card be sure to pay your statement balance on time each month to avoid interest. If you accrue interest charges by carrying a balance, or other fees, you’ll negate the cash back you earn.
